Chipotle 2020: Opening 11 New Restaurants

The Chipotlane concept has a presence in 32 states, thanks to the 11 new restaurants that featured it during the first quarter of 2020. More than half of the new restaurants will include Chipotlanes. Despite stay-at- home orders, the first quarter was a success for the company with digital sales growing more than 80%.

Chipotlane restaurants require more staff than traditional ones due to the increase in digital business. Over the next few months, the brand plans to hire as many as 10,000 employees, including hourly and salaried management positions. With world-class benefits, including the option to earn a DEBT-FREE COLLEGE DEGREE and access to MENTAL HEALTHCARE for employees and their families through Employee Assistance Programs, Chipotle believes growing business is roots in growing people.

Additional benefits include paid parental leave, an all-crew bonus, paid time off, and more. The work of emerging artists across the country will be showcased on the new restaurant openings of the burrito joint. The new locations will feature real illustrations of farms and natural ingredients, beginning with a Los Angeles-based artist named Josie Portillo.

The Digital Ordering Behavior of the Burrito Joint

Diners can get a pick-up time once they place their order and can drive through the mobile order lane to grab their meal. The average time for a digital order to be filled is about 12 minutes. The app allows users to order a meal hours in advance, but they have to pick it up at a specific time.

Adding dedicated parking spaces for mobile users who arrive before their order is prepared and texting customers when the meal is ready to be picked up is something that is being done by the burrito joint. Digital orders made up an estimated 8.8 percent of total sales at the Mexican restaurant. In-store orders at the restaurant are about $10,000 a day, while take-out orders are about $1,000, according to a CNBC interview with a employee of the restaurant.

Chipotlanes: A New Drive-Up for Mobile Users

The new feature is called a Chipotlane. The drive-up area will be for customers who ordered online or only on the app. It is not a traditional drive-through where customers place their orders.

Chipotlanes are being added during a time when digital orders are at an all-time high. QSR Magazine says that third-party delivery sales will surpass on-premise restaurant sales through the year. Dallas-Fort Worth diners haven't seen many drive-ups that cater to third-party delivery and mobile app users.

Offloaded Food in the Dining Room

The food that lands in your dining room was off loaded from the truck. The most complex phase of the global food supply chain is the transportation of food by truck. The global food supply chain has a lot of challenges, including real-time tracking transparency, document integrity, and food quality assurance.
