Offline Gmail Users

Users can work in Gmail offline if you are an administrator. When internet access is unavailable, you and your users can still read, write, search, and label email messages. When a connection is available, Gmail will send you messages in your outbox and download new ones to your inbox.

Gmail Offline Access

Offline access to web based applications like Gmail is provided by the browser plug-in. It is used for offline access to many other web applications from the likes of the Google Reader RSS manager, the Google Docs word processor and the other providers like Zoho. The implementation of the Google gears will allow people to work in the Gmail interface without having to use a separate desktop application. When the user is offline, email messages will be stored in the queue in the browser and will be synchronized when the user connects to the internet.

Offline Access: A Tool for E-mail Detection

Offline access will allow users to view and respond to e-mails from their Internet browser, as well as create new ones. The e-mails will be sent automatically when the user is connected online, because they will remain Outbook.

Backing up your email

It's easy to think that your email will always be available to you, even in a world where you can use the internet. Sometimes even Gmail goes down. Your school or work could cut access to your inbox without warning.

If you find yourself stuck on a plane without internet, it would be great to have access to old messages. If you lose your email, you should back up your inbox so you can access it when your web account is unavailable. If the internet goes down, you won't be able to access new messages, but you will be able to view your entire archive, which is sometimes all you need to keep working.

You will want to choose IMAP when you have the choice. If you remove a message from your inbox on Gmail.com, that email will disappear from your inbox on Thunderbird as well. POP is a bit more dated and creates a separate database on your computer.

Every service uses a different method of email. If you choose to do so, you'll want to make sure that Thunderbird is grabbing all your messages every time it checks for mail on the server. If you want to see if your messages are readable, you should put your PC in Airplane Mode.

If you can't view your messages offline, you may need to do a little digging and testing to get everything working. Once you're confident that you can trust Thunderbird to download your mail, just let it run in the background. If you prefer not to waste resources, you can set the Task Scheduler to launch Thunderbird once a day or two so it keeps its local database up to date.

Refresh Token and Offline Access for the Google App

The refresh token is returned when you request offline access. When the user is not present and in front of your application, refresh token gives you the ability to request data on behalf of the user. Offline access is needed when the user is not present.

If your application responds to external events like push notifications, or if there is a nightly batches process. If you only access user data while the user is using your application, there is no need for offline access. If they've previously granted access to your application, the authorization page will instantly close, making the process nearly invisible to the user.

The hidden Library

The hidden Library folder contains the com.apple.mail-shared file, which pops up when you press the option key.

Seeing how much space is on your hard drive in Gmail

You will be able to see how much storage space Gmail is using on your hard drive with a bunch of new options. You can decide how far back you want to store your emails in Gmail. You can work on it in offline mode if you forward it to Outlook client. Your outbox content will be sent once you return online.

Gmail Storage Capacity

Gmail is a service provided by the internet company. It had 1.5 billion active users. A user can access Gmail in either a web browser or the official mobile app.

The POP and IMAP protocols are supported by the internet giant. The storage capacity of one gigabyte per user was significantly higher than the competitors at the time. The service has 15 gigabytes of storage.

Users can receive and send emails up to 50 megabytes in size, with attachments, while they can send 25 megabytes. Users can send larger files by uploading files from their Drive to the message. The interface of the internet's email service is similar to an Internet forum.
