The Parking Problem in the Staples Center

The LA Lakers, Clippers, Kings, and the LA Sparks of the WNBA are all based at the Staples Center, which is also the home of the NBA and NHL. The arena has a seating capacity of 19,069 for basketball and 18,118 for hockey. The parking issue can become an issue once you reach the center.

There are more than 16,000 spaces within a 10-minute walk of the arena, but the Center owns 3,300 spaces. Pre-purchasing your parking pass at AXS will help you find a parking spot in the Staples Center owned lot. Privately-owned lots in the area can be much cheaper than the Staple Center lots.

The Staples Center: A Unique Arena for the Lakers and Clippers

The Lakers and Clippers are the only two NBA teams that share an arena, the Staples Center. The Knicks and Nets are the only two teams in the NBA that have a crosstown rivalry.

The New Building

The new building opened two years later after construction broke ground on the old one. The center was financed privately at a cost of US$350 million and is named after the office-supply company, which paid for naming rights. The arena opened in 1999 with a Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band concert.

The SoFi Stadium

HKS designed the SoFi Stadium which has a performance venue, a pedestrian plaza, and a stadium. The stadium has a translucent roof which covers the stadium proper, the pedestrian plaza, and the performance venue. The roof can show images from airplanes flying into the airport and is supported by a series of columns.

The stadium bowl has open sides and seats 70,240 spectators for most events, with the ability to expand by 30,000 additional seats for larger events. The first lightning delay in an event at the stadium will be in an NFL game between the Raiders and the Bolts on October 4, 2021. The first venue in the 85-year history of the Rams to be designed for the team is SoFi Stadium.

The First Gala Dinner

The ceremony will start at 10 a.m. at West Century Boulevard and South Prairie Avenue. Two-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Kawhi Leonard and former Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George are expected to attend.

Babymetal: The First Japanese Band to Open the Arena

Babymetal was the first Japanese band to headline the arena on October 11, 2019. The show is part of the "Metal Galaxy World Tour 2019," a promotional tour for the group's third album, which was released on October 11, 2019.
