The agon in non-dramatic conflict

Conflict is a major literary element of narrative or dramatic structure that creates challenges in a story by adding uncertainty as to whether the goal will be achieved. Conflict is the challenge main characters need to solve to achieve their goals in works of narrative. Narrative is not limited to a single conflict.

Conflicts may not always resolve in a narrative, but the resolution of a conflict can create a sense of fulfillment or closure at the end of the story. Critics have observed that the agon is the central unit of the plot in modern non-dramatic literature. The less value there is in the drama, the easier it is for the hero to triumph.

The antagonist must act upon the main character and seem to over match him or her internal and external conflict. Nature might be the antagonist in William Faulkner's The Bear. Natural creatures and scenery oppose and resist the main character.

Man versus Nature Conflicts

In man versus nature conflicts, the main character is not a man or a human, but a person struggling against nature. There are three primary literary conflict patterns.

A Person vs Environment Conflict

A person vs environment conflict is a minor plot point that serves an important function in your story. Two co-workers who hate each other in a romance novel might be grounded at the airport because of bad weather. They might initially be in a state of silence, but eventually they might start talking and find comfort in their experience. Person vs nature conflicts are useful for drawing characters together and for firing up their tensions.

The Graph of Temperature and Carbon dioxide Levels Stretching Back 650,000 Years in Gore'"origin

The graph of temperature and carbon dioxide levels stretching back 650,000 years is the most impressive demonstration in Gore's movie. His graph showed that when carbon dioxide levels rose, so did temperature. It suggested that carbon levels were the cause of the temperature.

The Limitations of Civilisation

One would like to think that nature's limited capacities do not mean a fatal limitation of civilisation. The irrational principle, which once was a part of human nature, still exists in human behavioural mechanisms, as can be seen in the unpredictable consequences of their individual and concerted efforts. Human activity goes beyond the limits of what is predictable.

Control theory has been applied in many spheres as the methods and principles of the various fields of knowledge and practice develop. The goal is to make sure the system works well. A humane mind should be able to transfer the idea of harmony and optimality to the environment.

Pantheism and the World View of God

Pantheism doesn't allow for a personal God inside or outside the physical universe. Pantheism sees god as an impersonal force that is inescapable. All is a single entity.

The New Age movement adds an evolutionary element. It sees men and women becoming one with the universal mind as a continuation of material evolution through the animal kingdom. Communism, Marxism and Socialism are examples of the world view.

capitalism is defined as where the wealthy oppress the poor. Everyone will act properly if everyone is treated equally. They will work to the best of their ability and only take what they need from the community.

Carbon Cycle in the Universe

The CO2 content in the air was stable for thousands of years. Natural CO2 is not static. It is generated by nature and absorbed by others.

The carbon cycle is affected by human CO2 emissions. The atmosphere has increased in CO2 since the pre-industrial era, which is making the planet warmer. The extra CO2 is cumulative because the natural carbon exchange cannot absorb all the additional CO2.

Nature is not a source of flood

The opposite of flood is the lack of rain. There is very little or no rain during this time. Lack of food and drinking water, extensive crop damage, and death of animals are some of the effects of a dry spell.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

A person who chooses to be influenced by their own desires rather than by the Holy Spirit. A person can comprehend physical things but not spiritual things. The fall of Adam and Eve made people mortal. The person must be born again through the power of Jesus Christ.
