What Is Reddit Worth?

There are more than 185,000 forums on the giant bulletin board, and they all have their own obsessions, such as science, politics, and jokes. Staffers don't touch anything. The site's easy-to-post format turns scads of young, mostly male, college-educated visitors into paid contributors.

Despite a clunky user interface that has barely been updated since 2005, the site attracts 3.4 billion page views a month, making it one of the 70 most visited sites in the US. It may not need big-spending sponsors to become a decent business, as it is too bohemian to attract the elegant perfume and sports car advertisers that flock to Conde Nast's upscale magazines. The estimate by ForBEs is that the site spends just $7 million a year to support a 22-person payroll and 75 server rented from Amazon's cloud.

The expenses are mostly covered by ads from movie studios, gaming companies, Web domain registrars and the occasional big brand. There are many offensive names on the site's more offensive subreddits, like Upskirt, car crash, rapejokes and pics of dead kids. Most of that content is posted anonymous and lives on the fringes of what is acceptable under the First Amendment.

Today, the site is well known, a far cry from its early struggles to get attention. The site was started in 2005 by two fresh University of Virginia graduates, Steve andAlexis Ohanian, after they couldn't finance a previous idea: an online food-ordering site. The founders of the site spent hours posting under fake names because their traffic was so weak.

The Ask Me Anything series on the internet is an important stop on the publicity tour for movie actors, directors and authors. Barack Obama stopped in for a chat. The results are not as polished as a People magazine profile, but there is a candor and unpredictability to each one that draws millions of page views.

The Rate of a Content Rating Platform

The popularity of the online content rating platform gained steam in 2008 and is still there. Steve and Alexis Ohanian were roommates at the University of Virginia and founded the company in 2005. In September of 2011, the US-based Media Company, Advance Publications, became a subsidiary of the online discussion site, Reddit.

The largest shareholder of the organization was Advance. Advertisers are willing to spend time on the platform to do research. They can make their ad appear on the front page or on specific subreddits as a sponsored link.

A New Technique for Detecting User Dislike Comments

Users can give awards to other users for liking posts. You can buy Reddit Coins to support the community by giving an award.

The Community Network

The core content of the network of communities is posts from its users. Users can comment on other people's posts. Users can cast positive or negative votes for each post on the site, and the site also has called upvotes and downvotes.
